A CVTE(视源股份) visit in Guangzhou takes a delegation to the company behind two brands that most visitors will already have used without knowing it: seewo interactive displays in Chinese classrooms, and MAXHUB conferencing panels in meeting rooms. Guangzhou Shiyuan Electronic Technology, known as CVTE, was founded in 2005, is headquartered in Guangzhou's high-tech development zone, and has been listed in Shenzhen under 002841 since 2017. In 2025 it reported revenue of about 24.35 billion yuan, up 8.72 per cent.

The reason to go is a brand question rather than a technology one. CVTE runs one technology platform and several brands underneath it, and seewo has led China's education interactive flat-panel market for fourteen consecutive years while MAXHUB has led the conferencing market for nine. How a company holds two category leaders on shared engineering is the most transferable thing a delegation can take away.

The second reason is what the company has become recently. In 2025 it shipped industrial quadruped robots, put a flexible robotic arm into production, and released an education large model with more than one million activated users. A delegation that knows CVTE as a display board maker will be seeing a different company.

China Innovation Visits coordinates the Guangzhou programme, including the company reception, scheduling, local transport and English interpretation.

Key takeaways

  • See how one engineering platform supports two category-leading brands in different markets.
  • Understand seewo's 49.8 per cent share of China's education interactive panel market, held for fourteen years.
  • Test the products directly: classroom, conferencing and home learning.
  • Discuss the robotics business — quadrupeds, a flexible arm and cleaning robots.
  • Ask about the AI education stack and what the teaching model actually does in a classroom.
  • Compare with an iFLYTEK visit, the other large Chinese company building AI into education.

Why visit CVTE in Guangzhou?

CVTE is a good subject for a delegation because it solves a problem every diversified manufacturer faces: how to serve two different buyers with one technology base. Education buyers want durability, classroom management software and a long replacement cycle. Corporate buyers want design, conferencing integration and a shorter cycle. CVTE sells to both and leads both.

The visit is also a lesson in why market leadership in China is often a distribution and software question rather than a hardware one. A display panel is a commodity; what keeps a brand at 49.8 per cent for fourteen years is the software layer and the installed base behind it.

Guangzhou is the right setting. The company's campus is in the city's high-tech zone, and it is known for staff facilities — kindergarten, gym, canteens — that make it a frequent subject of Chinese management writing. Delegations building a wider Guangzhou programme often add a GAC Aion factory tour on the same trip.

Company background

Twenty years from boards to brands

CVTE was founded in 2005 and started in LCD display main control boards. It listed in Shenzhen in 2017. The company states it reached first place globally by share in LCD display main control boards in 2010, and its brands seewo and MAXHUB reached first place in their respective Chinese markets in 2017 and 2019.

The two brands

seewo covers education: interactive flat panels, teaching terminals, recording and broadcast systems, and learning devices, spanning lesson preparation, delivery, assessment, research and school administration. MAXHUB covers enterprise conferencing. Both reported revenue growth above 8 per cent in 2025.

The platform underneath

The company also sells intelligent control components: display main control boards, home appliance controllers, and automotive and power electronics. This is the part that funds the brands and the part most visitors underestimate.

The scale of that component business is on the wall of the exhibition hall: cumulative shipments of LCD television main control boards exceed 840 million units, and the display states a share of about 33 per cent of global shipments for the category.

The same engineering base extends into industrial computing hardware, which is why the component line reads less like an accessory business and more like a second platform.

The 2025 results

Revenue and profit

Revenue was about 24.354 billion yuan in 2025, up 8.72 per cent. Net profit attributable to shareholders was about 1.013 billion yuan, up 4.38 per cent, and net profit excluding non-recurring items about 752 million yuan. Gross margin was 20.04 per cent and net margin 4.71 per cent. Return on equity was 7.65 per cent and basic earnings per share 1.48 yuan.

The shape of the year

The second half was much stronger: revenue of about 13.789 billion yuan, up 12.28 per cent, and net profit of about 616 million yuan, up 29.38 per cent. The fourth quarter alone delivered revenue of about 6.267 billion yuan, up 19.40 per cent, and net profit of about 146 million yuan, up 261.79 per cent.

Shareholder returns

The company proposed a dividend of 7.2 yuan per 10 shares, about 499 million yuan in total, equal to 49.27 per cent of net profit, and said it intended to prepare a 2026 interim dividend plan.

The number to raise

Where the business stands

Revenue was about 22.401 billion yuan in 2024 and 24.354 billion yuan in 2025, the highest in the company's history, with net profit of 971 million and 1.013 billion yuan respectively. Three-year revenue compound growth to the end of 2025 was 5.08 per cent, and profit turned up in 2025 after two years of recovery work. The question worth putting to the company is which of its businesses is expected to carry the next leg: the education and conference panel business, the main control boards, or the newer lines.

Production and inventory

The company's own operating data for 2025 show interactive flat panel production of about 977,600 units, down 11.61 per cent, and display main control board production of about 92.35 million units, up 3.33 per cent. Board inventory at period end was about 2.73 million units, up 56.33 per cent.

Falling panel output and a sharply higher board inventory are the kind of detail that does not appear in marketing material and is worth asking about directly.

Research spending

R&D investment was about 1.602 billion yuan in 2025, equal to 6.58 per cent of revenue, with more than 800 newly granted patents including more than 330 invention patents, and close to 11,000 granted patents in total.

Some training material describes research spending at above 8 per cent of revenue. The disclosed figure for 2025 is 6.58 per cent. Ask which measure is being used before comparing it with anything.

Where it leads

The market share numbers

Citing Displayninety's fourth-quarter 2025 global IFPD report, the company states that seewo held 49.8 per cent of China's education interactive flat panel market by shipments in 2025, maintaining a leading position for fourteen consecutive years. MAXHUB held 27.3 per cent of China's conferencing interactive flat panel market by sales volume, leading for nine consecutive years.

Overseas

MAXHUB's overseas own-brand business in enterprise services and education generated about 666 million yuan in 2025, up 54.83 per cent. The company frames this as a move from exporting products to exporting brands. In the first half of 2026 overseas revenue was about 3.470 billion yuan, or 24.12 per cent of the main business, against 10.918 billion yuan domestic.

Robotics

Three product lines

The company reports three robotics lines. The MAXHUB X7, an industrial quadruped, carries a 40 kg load while walking with extended endurance and up to 150 kg standing, and has been deployed and delivered in power and industrial settings. A flexible robotic arm has entered production with repeat positioning accuracy of about plus or minus 0.1 mm, aimed at 3C electronics assembly, industrial sorting and vocational training; the company says it won a dexterous manipulation challenge and appeared at the Canton Fair. Commercial cleaning robots are being exported in volume to Europe, Japan and South Korea for offices and industrial clean rooms.

Why it is credible

The company's argument is that motor control and AI algorithms from its existing businesses transfer to robotics. That is a plausible claim rather than a proven one, and the useful question is what proportion of robotics revenue is repeat commercial business rather than pilots and demonstration units. Delegations tracking the wider field usually pair this with a UBTech humanoid robot visit, where robotics is the whole company rather than one line.

AI in education

The stack

The company has built a teaching large model and describes a "1+N+N" AI education architecture. In December 2025 it released an AI teaching assistant agent. It reports that its classroom intelligent feedback system has established 19 key demonstration districts, that AI lesson preparation has passed one million activated users, and that its digital foundation platform covers more than 10,000 schools in China.

Home and policy

The company has extended the model into home products for ages three to twelve, including learning devices and parent-child screens. It cites the State Council's August 2025 opinion on the "AI Plus" initiative and the fifteenth five-year plan's inclusion of AI-assisted change in education models.

What to ask

One million activated users on a lesson preparation tool is a real number. Ask what proportion is active in a given month, and whether schools pay for the AI layer or receive it with hardware. That distinction decides whether this is a software business or a hardware feature.
